A huge well done to Aspire Housing apprentice Alex Michalski, 20, who has smashed his customer service practitioner apprenticeship with a distinction!
Compliance apprentice, Alex, from Clayton, started his journey from Clayton High school venturing forward to college and working part-time. Having to juggle both his studies and work, it became hard work and Alex wanted a taste of full-time employment!
Why did you choose PM Training?
Well, after I completed my BTEC in business administration I really just wanted to get straight into employment. I had enough of the classroom atmosphere and I wanted to start earning a wage. It was through a family member I heard about PM Training so I came down for an informal interview and they got me fast-tracked straight away to a position at Aspire Housing.
What is your new job role like at Aspire Housing?
I'm really enjoying it, I was nervous starting - as most people are when they start a new job! But the team I have are so supportive. I started out initially in the Programme Delivery Team and then moved over to the Compliance Team when I completed my first qualification. There is always lots to do and the people here are all really friendly, my job role consists of managing phone calls, spreadsheets, general admin and more!
Even people who have been to college should consider an apprenticeship, I wish I had known about them sooner!
Are you working towards any other qualifications moving forward?
I've just signed up to a Level 3 business administration apprenticeship so I'm really excited to start. With this new qualification comes new responsibilities and challenges so already I'm learning new things and tagging along with members of staff doing site visits, fire alarm tests and attending more meetings
What advice would you give to young people leaving school?
My advice to young people would be, just be aware of your options. Apprenticeships have honestly changed my life and you can really experience and learn things on the job without jumping into the deep end. Go to one of the Open Events and get the answers to your questions!
Why not try our Officeworks pre-apprenticeship programme? Learn vital skills to help you excel in your career in areas such as business administration, customer service and IT.
