THE STORY BEHIND THE
PRODUCTION

Designed as part of Britain in Bloom, this colossal fish towers over a roundabout on Newcastle-under-Lyme’s town ring road and is an eye-catching sight for locals and tourists alike.
 
The first of a series based on indigenous species created for Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, the piece compliments the return of the brown trout species in the Lyme brook in 2017.

FROM DESIGN TO INSTALL IN TEN WEEKS

The sculpture, designed by Andy Edwards and produced by Phil Brown is quite a catch at well over 4 metres long and more than 3 metres high. The whole structure including the design, creation of waves and mount was fabricated in under 10 weeks. The Trout is situated on one of the busiest roundabouts in Newcastle-under-Lyme, in the town centre opposite the Civic Offices. 

“The Brown Trout is synonymous with Newcastle-under-Lyme for a number of reasons including appearing on the Borough’s coat of arms as well as featuring on the statue on the roundabout in the centre of the town"
