A touching metalwork memorial to the lives lost from the Silverdale community during WW1.
Thanks to support from Realise charity, our Artworks team came to together to help the local Silverdale community by constructing 123 hand-crafted poppies including a moving silhouette. This project took 3 months to manufacture with help from apprentice Luke Steadman. This project is a dedication to the Silverdale soldiers who gave their lives to their country during WW1. Profits from this production were also donated to the Royal British Legion to help support Staffordshire veterans, soldiers and their families to achieve better health, gain employment and learn new skills.
The 8ft memorial display can be seen outside St.Lukes Church in the heart of the Silverdale community.
The poppies were mainly constructed by Artworks apprentice, Luke Steadman using galvanized sheets of steel soldered together and spray painted to create the final pieces. The silhouette was designed by artist, Andy Edwards and then constructed by Artworks manager, Phil Brown.
The poppies are all identical in size and sit alongside a memorial silhouette. Artworks have worked on a range of memorial silhouettes which also sit in parts of the local area including Tunstall, Burslem, Stoke and Uttoxeter.
